Woman's Club of Palo Alto

The Woman's Club of Palo Alto was founded by 24 women in 1894 and remains among the largest clubs in CA. Today, our club's 243 diverse and multigenerational members are bound by our shared passion for civic engagement, philanthropy, self-improvement, friendship, and stewardship of our "eclectic Tudor" Craftsman Clubhouse (on the National Register of Historic Places).  Our Club hosts monthly member luncheons with a mix of speakers, including authors, educators, health professionals, artists, environmentalists, and community leaders.  We also host events open to our members and our local community, including a February “Galentine’s Social,” multiple “Jazz Nights,” and a reception for potential members.  Our 15 Committees (e.g., Membership, Luncheon, Community Outreach, Philanthropy Grants, Recognition, etc.) keep our Club running smoothly.  Members share their thoughts and learn new skills through our 15 member-led Interest Groups (e.g., bridge, book circles, cinema circles, hiking, knitting & stitching, yoga, etc.).  We are a community filled with opportunities to engage, contribute, and deepen our skills and connections...another place to call “Home.”

We welcome new members between June and August every year.

The process for exploring and then joining our Club follows.

First, express interest in our Club by filling in our Interest form .  That process will put you in touch with our membership team who will tell you about our Club, invite you to events, find you members with similar interests, and find you sponsors should you need them.

Next, make sure our Club is for you. Prospective members are encouraged to attend two club events to make sure it's a good match for you. Check here on our calendar page to see if any of our events would work for you. Tickets for events can be purchased online by your sponsor.  Prospective members need to come with someone to our events.  Membership can find you a host if you need one.  Each new member needs two sponsors who are current members of the Club. We are happy to provide you with them, if you don't know anyone.   There are no events over the summer, July - August.  The new year begins with a September evening event.

Next, after you submit your interest form, you will receive an application form. If you find you enjoyed your experiences at the Club, submit your application.

Lastly, requirements for members are that you agree to our code of conduct, pay your dues, volunteer at one luncheon, and for new members there will be a one time class project for each new class admitted every year. The membership fee for 2025-26 is $435.  There is a one time initiation fee of $100 for new members.  Club management happens over our Club Express website where sign ups happen, fees are paid, and the club calendar is kept.  Once you are a member you will get an account on it.

You can complete this list of requirements - two events, two sponsors, and filling in the application, at any time during the year, but you can only become an active member over the summer of each year.

Please email membership@womansclubofpaloalto.org with any questions.  We would love to welcome you to our Club!
